PurposeTo assess physics quality assurance (PQA) practices in less resourced RT-centers to improve of care.MethodsA preliminary study was conducted 2020 thirteen select RT centers six countries and 2021, our team onsite visits all the Ghana, one from initial survey. The included private, two public institutions (denoted Public-1- –2). Follow-up surveys were sent 17 medical physicists site visit. Questions centered on topic equipment, institutional practice, assurance, management, safety practices. Qualitative descriptive methods used for data analysis. regarding operational challenges (machine downtime, patient-related issues, power outage staffing) asked a 5-point Likert scale.ResultsThe survey had 92% response rate. One key result showed that lower GNIpc country there direct correlation between QA needs country. identified film/array detectors, independent dose calculation software, calibration ion chambers, diodes, TLDs, phantoms verification, TPS test phantoms, imaging film dosimeters, education, training. For post after visit we received 100% private Public-1 each have CT simulators located their RT-center. average daily patient external beam workload clinic LINAC was: Private = 25, 55, Public-2 Co- 60 45, 25 (there no Co-60 at hospital). and-2 lacked equipment necessary conform best TG-142 198. reported significant challenges. Notably peer review chart rounds which are attended by clinical oncologists, physicists, physicians, trainees. All who responded indicated they system documenting, tracking, trending related incidents but only physicist using IAEA SAFRON.ConclusionThe development index follow up examines clinics surveyed. Research Priorities for Medical Toxicology in Low and Middle Income Countries
In the editorial by Dr. Reza Afshari “What is the best research for low income countries” (1), some important issues have been raised, highly relevant to developing countries. In most developing countries including India, emergency medicine is not well established and clinical toxicology is even further a low priority in view of both research and clinical management. The number of poison contro...

Assistive technologies for ageing populations in six low-income and middle-income countries: a systematic review
Despite the benefits derived from the use of assistive technologies (AT), some parts of the world have minimal or no access to AT. In many low-income and middle-income countries (LMIC), only 5-15% of people who require AT have access to them. Rapid demographic changes will exacerbate this situation as populations over 60 years of age, as well as functional limitations among older populations, i...

OBJECTIVE To examine the quality of HIV sero-surveillance systems in 127 low-income and middle-income countries by 2007, as well as gaps in data needed for reliable estimates of HIV prevalence and size of populations at risk for infection. METHODS The quality of countries' surveillance systems was scored using information from 2001 through 2007. Sero-surveillance data were compiled from the U...
متن کاملAnaemia in low-income and middle-income countries.
Anaemia affects a quarter of the global population, including 293 million (47%) children younger than 5 years and 468 million (30%) non-pregnant women. In addition to anaemia's adverse health consequences, the economic effect of anaemia on human capital results in the loss of billions of dollars annually. In this paper, we review the epidemiology, clinical assessment, pathophysiology, and conse...
